Team Event #05 - Rosersberg Räddningsskola,

Awesome field with new faces to the Team Events and a lot of happy, sweaty faces after a sunny day in the Stockholm area.

While the event was great, the build up to the event up till game start, was a roller-coaster of feelings and emotions. With this already being a new location with a lot of unknown factors that require my full attention to make it work. I need to control as much as possible to be able to set down the best game possible for the people showing up.

That last bit was where things went wrong on this event. It went from feeling ok with 21 people registered, which was not the number I hoped for, but a good amount to spread the Team Events information to new faces, to 9 people actually picking up their gear and start the game.

From a week before the event, the drop outs starting happening, up till the last moment when I was already on site. I know that drop outs will happen, the amount was just a lot higher than usual. Up till a moment I didn't want to open my messenger to get another message from people not coming.

With every drop out, I recalculate a lot of variables for the game. Like I stated, a game is only as good as it prep work and I want that to be good.

I love making games and I'm good at it. The Team Events are my creation and getting the feedback I got Yesterday was exactly why those games exist. I have videos, text and other info online about what it is about, what it good for. Still the best thing is to experience it yourself. Ask people that came to a Team Event how it is and what is different about this game and show up next time for an amazing game.

Now, the game itself.
The sun was out, it was very moist everywhere in the forest which made for a nice airsoft day. 3 teams made themselves ready, Blue (4 people), Red (2 people) and Yellow (3 people). Game started at 1000 as planned.

First mission was won by the blue team, holding the box for 63% of the time. Yellow pushed also on the point and just when I removed the case, Red also showed up, but too late.

Second mission, the teams needed to collect information and solve small riddles and then go to the box to cut the correct wire. Blue was on it's way to cut the wire but didn't manage to do it in time. A draw for all teams.

On request we held a lunch break, which depending on the people we do or not do. With the 2 next missions briefed I joined the Red team for a game of Cards. You need to hunt the enemy teams, eliminate them and collect their cards. A really action packed, tactical gameplay with multiple teams roaming the area. Shooting a lot give your position away and attract other teams. It was hard to count the cards because some were destroyed from all the sweat but it looked like Blue and Red took some cards more than Yellow. It was close though.

Directly after this the Hunting mission started, similar to the Card game but now the hunting team has UAVs and with more teams, the hunting teams work together to find the smaller hunted teams. With 3 teams it was a bit similar as the previous game but still that little bit different. The hunting teams managed to hunt down all the small teams with the Red team surrendering to the hunters. He was all alone and did his best.

Switching to the last game of the day, The Bomb, where teams need to bring the bomb to the bombsite, arm it and defend it until it explodes. The Red team took the bomb first, Blue team took it over and when Yellow was pushing the bomb site, the bomb exploded. Good job Team Blue.

As an organiser it was fun to see happy faces and getting the game they were expecting to get. Because of the lower numbers, some games didn't go as planned or didn't reach the expected idea. It made me improvise and stretch things as much as possible to make the teams going. I again learned a lot and will use this for future events.

Thank you for all the feedback!
